PAC Analytical Controls’ ASTM D2504 analyzer is a turnkey, pre-configured system for the determination of: hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen and carbon monoxide in the parts per million by volume (ppmv) range in C2 and lighter hydrocarbon products.
The analyzer leverages the intelligence built into the Agilent 8890 GC; the construction and functional features of the new hardware improve the performance and productivity of the system that has been designed with two valves, two columns and a helium ionization detector.
All flows are controlled by EPC. In particular, the sample shut-off valve is configured to ensure excellent repeatability and the purge valves are over-pressurized with the same carrier gas that flows into the columns in order to protect the actuators from any contamination from air ingress.
The system can alternatively be equipped with a vacuum sampler dedicated to the introduction of samples at sub-ambient pressure conditions.
The analyzer determines the components in accordance with the ASTM D2504 method with a deviation on the detector type.
The TCD detector is replaced by a pulsed discharge detector (HID), to meet the required detection limits.
The system meets and exceeds the requirements listed in the ASTM D2504 method:
- Linear dynamic range 0.1-100 ppm
LOD <0.1 ppm
- Repeatability less than 1%
- All in an analysis time of approximately 10 minutes.
