Current environmental protection regulations require the determination of mineral oil concentrations in various areas.
In particular, Legislative Decree 152/06 provides threshold values for this parameter for various aqueous matrices.
The possibility of scaling down, working on a few ml of sample and operating in Large Volume Injection (LVI) mode, thus avoiding any concentration steps, has been verified.
The proposed preparative platform is capable of completing all the operations required by the method, including the preparation of the standards needed to construct the calibration curve, while maintaining performance in line with those required.
Thanks to the optimization of preparative and injection parameters, it is possible to target a LOQ of 50 μg/l and a LOD of 35 μg/l, thus meeting current regulatory requirements.
Specifically, the proposed preparative station allows you to:
-
Reduce the amount of sample required for analysis by more than an order of magnitude
Limit the solvent volume to less than 2 ml per sample
- Automate the entire process
Avoid the evaporation step
- Achieve excellent LOQ levels
Meet the requirements of the official method
- Conduct the entire determination of the hydrocarbon index
- Eliminate siloxane contamination.
With a minimal upgrade, it is also possible to process soil and waste.
